Earthy Browns and Copper in the Kitchen Christmas Tour

Welcome back! Today I’m sharing the earthy browns and copper in the kitchen Christmas tour and love how this part of our home is all decked out for the holidays. So much time is spent in the kitchen but they can often get overlooked in the decorating shuffle.  It doesn’t take much to spark the Christmas wonder though, from a sprig of greenery on a shelf to a perfectly placed wreath or bowl of pinecones. And you don’t have to spend a single penny. Clip some greens, shop your home and give your dear ones a hug.

Keeping with the deep browns and copper tones, I added pinecone chair hangings, some fresh greenery, faux garland and the show stopping fresh rose hip wreath. I loved the bittersweet wreath I had up in the fall (which is years old at this point) so much so that I reached back out to the Etsy shop ScarletSmile and asked if she could make me a 24″ fresh rose hip wreath. She doesn’t currently have the rose hip wreath listed but there are many beautiful others and you could possibly request a custom order.

My favorite chair decoration yet! So simple yet elegant and festive. Get the full instructions here on this blog post. With three little kids I expected a pinecone a day to be on the floor. I’m happy to report that they are going strong and look as lovely as they did that first day.

SINK NOOK

I’m loving having a wreath here! I plan on keeping this up through the holidays and Valentine’s Day. It’s just too pretty. The 24″ wreath is not too overwhelming for the space, partially because the windows are so big. I thought long and hard about the garland though. Last year we had fresh pine and it was lovely, for a day. It dried out so quickly and dropped so many needles that I gave up two weeks in to the holiday season and replaced it. Expensive and a mess. This year I used this pine garland from Terrain. I did add in some live cedar to add some dimension to it. The dish towel is from JSH Home Essentials and the rug (3×5 size) is one of my more asked about pieces and available on Amazon.

THE SHELVES

Always a favorite to decorate, I kept it familiar but changed up the art, some glasses and the greenery. Such a simple way to bring some holiday into this space.  As for new purchases, I loved these dutch ceramic houses from Target and picked them up on a visit. They have a creamy glaze that goes well with my plates and bowls and the vintage brown transferware platter. A pitcherful of fresh greenery tied up with some velvet ribbon completes the look nicely.

THE RANGE

This faux garland with some fresh cedar mixed in is held up by three command hooks. I layered a vintage bread board with some antique art and a new faux wreath from Target. Simple but festive and easy to assemble. If we’re making something splattery I slide them over a bit, otherwise I’ve never worried about having art back there. Its usually a flea market find that isn’t going to hang in any museum but does bring me joy. I want to look at the art while I’m cooking and love the texture and history it brings to our very old home.

THE BREAKFAST NOOK

Really our “everything” nook. Dinner, arts and crafts, hang out spot we use this hard working area all.the.time. Soooo, naturally the kids don’t love it all decorated because the arrangements get in the way of the airplane runway. I paired it down and jazzed it up with these new Serena and Lily placemats which I love. The oblong shape means the cup and cutlery fits without falling off the edge. It adds a beautiful texture to our modern table. Vintage plates and cutlery tied with ribbon keep the feel informal, just the way I like it.

In each of the windows flanking the range and the sets of windows in the nook, I made a swag of evergreens, tied it up with a ribbon and hung it on a command hook. It adds a bit of greenery to our kitchen / family room.

I hope you’ve enjoyed a glimpse of our historic home all decked out for the holidays with pictures by the talented Ruth Eileen Photography. Thank you for coming by. I wish I could make you a cup of tea and chat awhile.
