Love Bug Valentine’s Butterflies

Oh my heavens are these cuties. And so easy to make. I made them for Aubrey’s Butterfly Birthday Party a few weeks ago but we couldn’t get enough. Turn these into the sweetest Love Bug Valentine’s Butterflies to gift to the class.

HERE’S HOW TO MAKE THEM

I used these compostable snack bags because they have this ethereal quality and are better for the environment. A regular size clothes pin is the body of the butterfly. I cut these pipe cleaners in half and rolled in the end to look like an antenna. Teeny googly eyes stuck on with craft glue complete this adorable package. Pinch the middle of the bag, slide the clothes pin on from the bottom of the snack bag to the top. This lets you open the clothes pin slightly to hold the antenna in place.

For Aubrey’s birthday we used Pirate’s Bootie, a snack I rarely buy but she loves. It looked great in the butterflies and one bag filled so many. For these I used Yum Earth brand gummy hearts to fill the bags. You’ll need a few boxes because it took 4ish tiny bags to fill the butterfly bag. I couldn’t find this treat in anything but preportioned treats. Clearly you can use any Valentine’s candy to fill these up with.
