Bunny Cupcake Toppers

These adorable bunny cupcake toppers are perfect for surprising the littles this spring season and make a cute addition to an Easter celebration. The bunny is less about the Easter bunny for us and more about all those easter bunnies hopping wildly around the yard. Easy to make and a sweet delight for kids, this makes a cute Easter dessert and a pretty easy craft.

And best of all, you’ve probably got most of these supplies at home or they’re a quick Amazon delivery away.

SUPPLIES

Large Cotton Balls

Wood Skewers

White and Pink Crepe Paper

Hot Glue and Hot Glue Gun

Scissors

Clippers

Thin Cotton Twine

5 or 7 mm Satin ribbon

INSTRUCTIONS

Start by clipping the skewer down. I cut mine almost in half so they wouldn’t stick up too high above the cupcake frosting.  Next, take three cotton balls and hot glue them together to make a larger ball. Push cut skewer through cotton balls and glue in place at the top of the skewer.

Cut roughly a 4×6″ piece of white crepe paper with scissors. Next poke your skewer with the glued cotton balls through the middle as seen above. Gather up the crepe paper around the cotton balls to form a ball with the excess crepe paper above.

Now tie cotton twine tightly above the cotton ball holding the crepe paper in place forming a ball and cut the cotton twine close to the knot.

Start to gather the crepe paper into two distinct “ears” forming them into a tip with your fingers and cutting away excess tissue paper. Crepe paper is super malleable and I found it easy to widen and make look more like ears. I occasionally hot glued pieces of the ear together to get the shape I was after.

Now, out of pink crepe paper, make a smaller ear shape and hot glue to the front of your bunny’s ears.

Finally, add a small circle for a nose and pretty ribbon bow tie and you’ve got adorable bunny cupcake topper for an Easter dessert.

MOM HACK CUPCAKES

I did my mom hack thing and bought cupcakes at WholeFoods and scraped the sugary buttercream frosting off the top. Instead, put a big dollop of whip cream in its place. I buy a container of it premade in the refrigerated dessert section next to the bakery.

Clearly you can skip this step but it cuts down on some of the sugar my kiddos consume and it still feels like a treat to them as evidenced by Kai’s bliss, hahaha.

My sweet friends I hope you’ve enjoyed this fun (and EASY!) take on an Easter dessert. Ruthie from Ruth Eileen Photography captured these pictures beautifully. And now there’s even more Easter goodies below on this Easter dessert blog hop. You really won’t want to miss a single one.
