Fall in the Family Room with Serena & Lily

October is a magical month with the colors growing deeper, leaves flurrying around us and the fireplace going on here in New England. It’s that time of year to get cozy inside and bake something delicious, perhaps my maple crumble muffins? It may also be sparking the mood to update your surroundings. Right now Serena & Lily has their famous 20% off sale going on which has been extended to (10/5). So I’d love to show you our fall in the family room with Serena & Lily in case you want to grab any last minute items with the discount.

The shipping delays happening in just about every industry right now are well documented at this point but it seems to be very prominently affecting the design world. I have several clients right now that have half furnished houses as we wait for items to come in.

Olema Basket size small | Ashland Throw in Heathered Natural

It is hard to want to buy something that you have to wait 6-8 months for. With that in mind, Serena and Lily has a new feature on their website that allows you to filter items based on your availability needs.

On the left hand side of the site as you scroll through products, you see the Filter By: section. You can now filter it for availability: in stock and delivers in 1-2 weeks or in stock and delivers in 2-4 weeks. This fantastic tool lets you easily assess how quickly you can receive an item and with hundreds of fast shipping items, you’re sure to find what you need to decorate your home for fall, for out of towns guests visiting for Thanksgiving or getting ready for winter. The flannel sheets are a winter lifesaver!

THE BUILT-INS

I updated the baskets in our built-ins with the Olema Basket in size small. It’s so lovely and adds this great texture and warmth with the natural sea grass. I also love the subtle striped design.

Above the mantel I added the Lisbon Mirror which is a beauty. It is handcrafted out of coconut beads so it is truly a work of art. With the openness of the beading, it creates an interesting pattern that adds an airy touch. Yet it is substantial and heavy enough to hold its own while being neutral enough to pair beautifully with some art work, a gorgeous flower arrangement or simple brass candlesticks.

THE WINDOW NOOK

Having a cozy throw is a must for the cooler days ahead. The Ashland Throw is a substantial, beautifully crafted throw made of a tight ribbed alpaca wool and it is my go-to right now. It is also lovely draped over our ottoman.

TRAVEL PICTURE WALL

I have loved our Cabot Console for a couple years now because it is slender (at only 15″ deep) and has this great texture from the raffia. It blends in seamlessly with the white walls and has this lovely brass element on the side. I added these vintage lamps and am loving the darker feel of the black shades. Perfect for fall, they look right at home here and although they are not exactly a matching set, they seem meant to be together. They came from a fantastic mid century house and were left behind by the owners. There are several other copper and brass lamps that are similar if you are interested, send me an email. They are high quality and a vintage treasure.

I hope you’ve enjoyed a look at our fall in the family room with Serena & Lily! Beautiful pictures of our fall decor captured by the lovely Ruth Eileen Photography. Moodier tones and soft textures can go a long ways to making your home a cozy spot for fall. And with Serena & Lily’s 20% off sale, it’s a little bit easier to use that new availability feature to find some fast-shipping favorites.
