Envelope Cookie Gifts

These adorable packaged cookies make the perfect treat and sweetest gift. A floral wax seal compliments the envelope and makes it an extra special treat to receive. A sweet way to package and give these dainty frosted sugar cookies from yesterday’s post. And in the age of COVID, packaging just makes everyone feel a bit better. Here’s a perfect way to make it both adorable and safer. And these goodie bags from a few years ago would be another adorable option.

SUPPLIES

Cookies

3.5 x 6″ Glassine Envelopes

Translucent Sealing Wax (I used 3-4 beads per seal)

Melting spoon (I used a tablespoon held over a candle)

Dried Hydrangea blossoms or these premade wax seals

INSTRUCTIONS

Start by prepping your space and gathering your supplies. Working with what I had, I lit a candle and put the wax beads in my tablespoon but they do have special sets that make this melting step easier. I used dried hydrangeas blossoms I had left over from the fall. You could buy dried hydrangeas, use small faux blossoms or skip the melting step altogether and buy pre-made wax seals which are equally adorable and achieve the same look. I imagine these would look adorable on invitations too which is clearly what they are designed for.

Once my wax had melted, I set the tablespoon down careful to not spill any and then stuffed a pretty cookie from yesterday’s post into a small glassine envelope. Glassine envelopes are key here because they’re so translucent you can easily see the pretty detail on the cookies.

I was careful to not press down too hard on the dainty hearts on yesterday’s sugar cookies. The royal icing does chip off with too much pressure.

Set a single hydrangea blossom down on the envelope fold where it touches both the flap and the actually envelope. Pour the melted wax right on top of the blossom and drizzle around slightly to make a seal. This would be the point you press down with a wax seal stamp. But I didn’t have this and skipped this step. Sometimes you make do.

These envelope cookie gifts turned out beautifully. Even if you don’t have all the items on hand, you can often make do with what you do have and still make something lovely.
