A Thankful Table

We’re a little under a month away from Thanksgiving here in the States and with that comes a renewed focus on thankful living and preparation for this sweet holiday. For me it’s a bit bittersweet. I think I’ve missed only one or two Thanksgivings with my mom in my entire life. So it’s going to be odd. After she passed away I went into full on distraction mode and hauled her table outside, set it with her plates, foraged the neighborhood for greenery and tried to create a table thinking about her. A Thankful Table.

A spot to be thankful for memories and moments, people present and those that don’t get to be anymore.

I love this table, particularly because it was easy in addition to lovely. I gathered little white pumpkins at Trader Joes. Found a copper vase my mom had and filled it with clippings. Aubrey was a sweet trooper as I walked around the neighborhood and down the bike path in Napa gathering weeds and leaves. It was captured beautifully by my friend, Sarah Ann Risk. She’s so very talented, if you’re in the bay area / Napa, she should be your go-to photographer. This time of year I find myself wanting richer colors, hues that match the changing foliage all around. Something that invokes being cozy.

The rich copper hue, creamy ivory plates, bright reds of the leaves are balanced perfectly by a striped blue napkin.

So here’s a table inspired by you mom, for whom I’m so very thankful for.

Make sure you pop over and see all my friend’s Thanksgiving table ideas.

Again, these beautiful pictures were taken by my friend Sarah Anne Risk. If you are in the Bay area / Napa area make sure you schedule a session with her. She’s talented and lovely and they are sure to be pictures you will treasure forever.
