Pretty Fall Table

Fall came to our dining room with it’s soft apricot colors and pops of light orange. A simple grouping of pretty arrangements and some pumpkins–they make a simple table runner that’s so pretty and perfect for early fall entertaining.

I used different sizes of vases and a pitcher I had on hand to bring height to the table. I also love grabbing natural elements to usher in fall, in this case grasses and acorns I found on a walk and squash from the grocery store. Perfect multipurpose decorating–you can eat the squash when they’re done adding fall touches to your home.

Simple touches like a stalk of wheat tucked into the napkin or a scattering of acorns really gives you that fall feel. I love using these pumpkin plates too. They are from Potterybarn from a few years back. Sometimes you just need to invest in good seasonal pieces and they can make appearances year after year without feeling dated or out of style. I try to grab stuff after the season on sale, if it’s still available, to use the following year. You can see them in last year’s fall tour here.

These salmon-colored candlesticks are from William Sonoma and the perfect color but I will say, they’re so stinkin’ skinny that they fall over in my candlesticks holders. I used putty to try and keep them from sliding around and that did the trick for awhile but after a few days there’s definitely a leaning tower of Pisa situation going on.

These beautiful pictures were taken by Ruth Eileen Photography. From home tours to family shoots, she’s amazingly talented and definitely someone you’ll want to meet if you’re in the market for an amazing photographer. I hope you enjoyed our fall table this year. When life gets busy sometimes regrouping as a family around a pretty table is exactly what everyone needs.

It turned out beautiful! I had to laugh, though, at a memory that came back to me when I saw you used acorns. When my daughter was 5 she liked to collect things outside during recess and she’d bring them home to me. One night she left a pile of acorns on the kitchen island. When I came down the next morning w/o my glasses I saw a bunch of wiggly shadows on the counter. I moved my face close so I could see better and screamed. There were tiny white worms all over. Gross, but we both still giggle at the memory.

That’s so funny Kim! And Yuck! Yes I learned the hard way too by making acorn wreaths years ago and then coming home from work to about a trillion tiny moths in the house. It was horrible. Haha!

It looks gorgeous—love that it’s pretty and fall-like without being over-the-top.
