A Special Brunch Table for Mom

A sweet Mother’s Day brunch for mom. If you’re anything like me (mom with young children) all you reeeeally want for Mother’s Day is sleep. Quiet, uninterrupted sleep. And a donut. I wouldn’t hate a donut. Haha! I think the donut is more likely than sleep with little Aubrey barely 3 months old. Wouldn’t it be special though to wake up to a lovely little breakfast after some blissful, quiet sleep? So in reality it’s probably two kids screaming over legos and a bowl of cereal, but hey, a girl can dream. Not that our loving hubbys need one more thing to try and pull off but a pretty table is always a lovely treat so maybe do it for your own mom or a mom’s group of friends. It is since becoming a momma myself that I realize even more fully how selfless, kind and amazing my own mom is. I wish I could make her a lovely brunch and we could sit here together…quietly, haha!

I think my favorite part of this pretty table are those amazing raffia placemats. They’re just beautiful and they even make the simple white plates look wonderful.  One of my favorite ways to set a table is to think about layering textures–woods, ceramics, floral, they all add beautiful dimension to a tablescape.

You can find these delicious strawberry lemon crumble muffins here. They’d be a perfect touch for a Mother’s Day brunch and frankly, you’ll feel way better eating these than a donut anyways. I love lemon anything so these are the perfect morning treat.

For the tablescape, I used my new paulownia wood bowl from Napa Farmhouse.  I filled it with a smaller bowl to hold water and used chicken wire to hold the stems in place. I love to repurpose more unique pieces for a centerpiece.

Another favorite feature of this table are the light peach plaid napkins. Holy moly. I got these several months ago and have been waiting for an opportunity to use them. They’re just so beautiful, in my humble opinion these are napkins you should have in your entertaining arsenal, the quality is exceptional and the color is just beautiful. Because this is a casual morning table, I tied some of the silverware with ribbon and laid them across the top of the napkins.

I hope you all have a lovely Mother’s Day. It’s a sweet day and one I’m thankful for. I didn’t have the easiest road to mommahood so these littles are such a gift, one that is not lost on me. I know this can be a hard day if you’re struggling on your journey to motherhood. I wish I could give you a hug and let you know you aren’t alone. Being able to celebrate a Mother’s Day is a gift and this year I’m loving all the little preschool creations coming home to celebrate me. Who doesn’t want a small wooden box filled with rocks or a finger painted popsicle stick frame?

These sweet pictures were captured by my friend Ruthie of Ruth Eileen Photography. From weddings to product shoots, Ruthie is your gal if you want beautiful pictures. Make sure you shoot her an email and follow her on Instagram. So much inspiration.
