Welcoming Early Fall in the Home

Oh lovely fall. I’m kinda ready for you. We had our summer trip last week and it felt oh so good to travel again. It’s been a year and a half since my hubby and I went abroad and we’ve never taken Kai so it was a sweet time. The boys started school this week so out came all the pumpkins. A few weeks back I fell in love with some of these soft felt pumpkins. I love to watch for inspiration as the seasons turn and these were it! They’re the perfect launching pad for fall decorating: soft greys, beiges, a light, muted rust, some blues since I can’t part ways with my favorite color. So welcome to our early fall home, I’m so happy you’re joining us from Lisa at Farmhouse on Boone. Her front porch was lovely!

We completed the remodel on our old home about two months ago and I’m excited to decorate this year. It’s a whole new space. The family room is now open to the kitchen and the big windows flow throughout. SO much natural light shining in. With the start of the fall season, before the pumpkins are really out anywhere I have to resort to the artificial ones I’ve collected throughout the years. They’re scattered throughout and make it feel like an easy transition to fall. The pretty felt pumpkins are available from Terrain or locally at Laurel Grove Shop in Sudbury, Ma.

I love changing out the pillows come fall. The loopy knit ones are from Potterybarn but from a couple years ago. I linked similar ones below. They feel like a cozy sweater. I bought the grey plaid one from Serena and Lily and had to hold myself back from all their beautiful pillows. Such an easy way to bring in fall is with accessories and pillows are one of my favorites.

I love the bookshelves and haven’t changed much about them from last year, you can see that fall tour here. I fill the wooden bowl with velvet white pumpkins and add little felt ones in front of the frames. Once the leaves start to change I’ll add more colored leaves to the mantel or a bunch of wild grasses. Shop your yard or go for a walk, something that is a total weed can bring such charm when bunched together and propped in a vase. Even a bunch of dandelions look great. Such an easy (and inexpensive!) way to bring the outdoors in and celebrate the change of seasons.

I love white pumpkins. This big ceramic lidded bowl is from HomeGoods from a few years ago. It will always have a place in my home. White pumpkins are so easy on the eyes. Adding wheat to my vintage enamel container from France is another easy fall fix.

Soon these pretty hooks in the mudroom will contain sweaters and scarves. Hard to believe we’re already back to that fall frame of mind. On the other side of the mudroom builtins is a vestibule with a french door from the backyard and a large trough sink for dirty hands. Perfect for kiddos and containing dirt. I didn’t want the powder room to become the mud washing off spot so this was our brilliant idea for the little boys.

The powder room has some dried thistle for that perfect fall feel. Soon white pumpkins will find their way into every nook and cranny, and not even willingly really. Little hands pick them up and they migrate. I think we’re past the stage of finding them in the potty so that’s something to look forward too. Haha!

I hope you’ve enjoyed these early fall days in our home. My sweet friend Ruth Eileen Photography took these pictures and I couldn’t be more thankful. She always does a spectacular job. Head on over and give Sarah from Grace in My Space some love as the next stop on this blog hop tour. There’s so much lovely and inspiration to be had. Fall is just one of the coziest times of year.

Hey there I really loved your kitchen layout. I’m planning my kitchen remodel and using pretty much the exact layout for the range. I was curious what type of gas range you have I do not recognize it and really like the pop of blue it provides. Would you mind sharing the make and model. I looked thru photos in various places but didn’t see a mention.
    Thanks in advance.
