Family Room Wooden Ceiling UpdateOne of the more stressful design decisions I’ve made that I don’t regret. But I was terrified to actually start. Inspired by our travels abroad, it took me 2 years to mull it over, then months to get the stain right. And then more months to have vintage beams from a 1879 Lexington barn (same year as our home) milled down into planks to be used for the panels. @jdmillworks did an absolutely spectacular job and they haven’t fired me yet for these design ideas of mine. But I wouldn’t be surprised if Jim locks the door the next time he sees me coming. Don’t forget your ceilings. It can change everything! #familyroom #historichome #millwork #carpentry #designdetail

41 years old today. And incredibly grateful for the lovely mess that is this life. 41 years of making mistakes, loving wildly, being loved, traveling, baking, having babies, remodeling old homes, growing in faith, traveling some more, learning to be ok with the imperfections, disappointments and constant change. A little bathroom update we started last June. Don’t let HGTV fool you, houses take time. We had large crack in our shower floor tile and concern for water damage, so I took the opportunity to add a little drama—new tile AND a pretty marble bench. I love the new paint colors (walls and ceiling SW Creamy and trim SW Soft Sage) but the curtains are my favorite part. #bathroomreno #bathroomdesign #newenglandliving #renovations
