In The Home With Serena & Lily

We’re t-minus just a few days away from the opening of the new Serena & Lily store in Chestnut Hill, Ma just outside of Boston. And if you’re anything like me you are VERY excited about it. The laid-back, coastal chic, stripes and textures and all things lovely that Serena & Lily really epitomize is never more apparent then in their thoughtfully designed stores. They truly are destinations! So get ready New England, this ones going to be beautiful.

I had the honor of partnering with Serena & Lily as the store gets closer to opening by featuring some of their new fall collection in our home! Very exciting for this California native to have a store so close that makes me feel like I’m home! I’ve loved every piece of the beloved Balboa Collection since the first day I laid eyes on it. New for fall is the Balboa in Barstool height, available in both that gorgeous mist color and the natural rattan, and boy is it lovely. For our kitchen island I went with counter stool height but to have the barstool option makes it usable now for all kitchen islands.

I went back and forth and back and forth in my mind trying decide if I wanted to bring out more grey in our kitchen by utilizing the warm grey tone finish on the Balboa stool or if I wanted to stick with the classic rattan. I ended up going the warmer direction but I’m not sure there was actually a bad choice in this instance. Either color would look beautiful in a wide range of kitchens. Now that there is a store so close, New Englanders can see these pieces in person before committing to a major furniture purchase online and that just makes it so much easier to bring home a design you love. The knowledgeable in-store designers at Serena & Lily provide free design services to help you bring your design together and make sure it will work perfectly for your family.

Part of the new collection are several pillows I think are about to become classics. Snag them up and love them in your home. The Avalis pillow is a perfect layering pillow–a gorgeous chambray weaved linen in three color ranges. I went with sand for the nook and love the softness it adds. The navy plaid of the Mayne pillow brings in subtle texture with the classic plaid but freshened a bit with the lovely tiered tassels. The Luca pillow in fog brings in the fun with the pom poms down the sides. Every pillow grouping should have some fun in my humble opinion.

I couldn’t resist these woven Catalonia placemats with the charming scalloped edge. These are made of durable abaca so they’ll last, kiddos and all. Every lovely table needs a good foundation piece that helps you entertain well and beautifully. These would look lovely on a Thanksgiving table or as a standard addition to your kitchen island. Here I love them paired with some vintage plates I found at Brimfield this last week.

The new 4200 sq foot space in Chestnut Hill will feature the airy coastal style that Serena and Lily is famous for perfectly. With original art to a swatch wall that will let you find the perfect fabric for a custom creation, it’s going to be a place you bring along your coffee and meander. I for one am excited to see ALL the gorgeous wallpaper in person. And no matter what items you may or may not be in the market for, you’re going to want to come this opening weekend because Serena & Lily will have special gifts and treats for some of the first customers through the door. And more importantly, 10% of all sales during opening weekend will be donated to Boston’s Ellie Fund. If you ever needed a good reason to go shopping in a lovely place, this is it. My momma is battling breast cancer so this is dear to me. Opening day is Friday September 13th! The image below is from the article on Bostonmagazine.com of the new store, you can read it here.
