Spring Banner Craft for Kids

If you’re home with little kids you’re probably missing school right about now and looking for activities to do with them. I love having my kiddos home but their sweet little hands want to stay busy and that can be exhausting when there are other tasks that need to happen around the home. My little dudes love crafts and that got me thinking. So here’s a simple spring banner craft that brings the outdoors in and creates the opportunity for a fun treasure hunt of sorts.

Start by grabbing those little ones and heading outside, rain or shine, to look for some pretty spring blooms. Make it a looooong walk so they wear themselves out, haha. We have a yellow forsythia shrub on the side of our home that the kiddos admired and then started pulling blossoms off.

I grabbed some simple card stock and cut it into rectangles. Then grabbed some yellow paint so the boys could dip their fingers in to make the center for the flowers. Messy and imperfect and just the way a kiddo craft should be.

They were eager to hang up their bloom garland in the playroom so I used a hot glue gun to attach the blossoms in a circle around the finger print circle to make a flower out of flowers. But I’d recommend using regular glue because it made me nervous that they could burn their fingers. Maybe your kiddos will be more patient.

A piece of twine and some mini clothes hooks allowed the boys to proudly display their hard work. Easy, simple and the perfect spring banner craft for kiddos. A big thank you to Ruth Eileen Photography for tagging along at a socially appropriate distance to capture these littles hunting for blossoms and hard at work bringing you (hopefully) some quarantine craft inspiration. My friends below have some more wonderful spring garland ideas.
