Hi Deb, we used a beige colored pea gravel. My only regret is under the pea gravel we put a weed block barrier, then regular large gravel. The kids like to drag their feet and scoop up the pea gravel which brings the ugly big grey gravel pieces to the surface. I wish I would have skipped that step and only gone with the pea gravel.
