A Tropical Escape–What to Bring

We got our negative COVID tests back yesterday, passports and N95 masks are in hand and we’re headed out on a tropical escape sans kiddos in a few short days. March is my month. It’s both my birthday month and our anniversary month and although we’ve only ever gone away without our kids one time in seven years, this March feels like the perfect time to do it. I must have bought a trillion swimsuits and then returned said trillion swimsuits. February in New England is NOT the month to try on a swimsuit. What is up with those “cheeky” swimsuits out there!? No matter how many times I clicked “full coverage” I ended up with swimsuits that turn into wedgies in a few short steps. I’ve got a few bones to pick with the Gen-Zs and this is one of them. A wedgie bathing suit is not a flattering style regardless of how young or old your tushie is! #truth So here is a collection of finds for a tropical escape–what to bring.

| 1. Cotton Dress | 2. Gingham Bathing Suit | 3. Twist Tank | 4. Hair Clips | 5. Linen Hat | 6. Earrings | 7. Stripe Shorts | 8. Sunglasses | 9.  Lip Sunscreen| 10. Body Sunscreen | 11. Unique Handle Bag | 12. Woven Sandals |

SWIMSUITS

Soooo, with vacation in mind, I really did try on a few trillion swimsuits. And out of those trillion I found a couple flattering (for me and in my opinion) options at both the high and low end of the cost-spectrum. This one piece is super flattering and doesn’t ride up. It’s truly full coverage and I love the bow detail, but it is pricey. This one is super flattering with the ruching but at a much more affordable price for a one piece (I needed to size down for this one). This inexpensive tankini is a perennial favorite (with these full coverage bikini bottoms) in my bathing suit line up. It covers my mom stomach and still feels flattering when I’m around others. Plus I love that I can take the straps down for a bandeau top. However swimming with a tankini can feel heavy at times with all the material floating up around you. I bought this bikini top to wear with the tankini bottoms for when I want to swim unencumbered. This one was a surprising find at Target that is so cute and inexpensive it’s coming with me. Whenever I wear this one I get about a 1000 requests and it really is as good as it seems. There’s 4 different ways you can wear it and it’s flattering with the gathered bottoms. These are just some of the fun finds for a tropical escape with an eye on what to bring. More details coming soon on this sweet little anniversary/birthday getaway just the two of us.
