A Pretty Table for Mom

Seven years into motherhood, it’s just as magnificent and lovely now as it was that very first year. For me, walking through infertility sharpened my focus and spoke to my heart of the great and mighty gift of a child. None of us are guaranteed children just like the many and varied other things in life we tend to try to have a death grip on. And just as varied as our life story, motherhood looks uniquely different for each of us. It’s taken on a sad tinge for me after losing my mom to breast cancer a year and a half ago. It just doesn’t feel quite whole now that I’m celebrating without her physical here with me. She liked lovely things too and if she was here would adore this pretty table for mom.

When I think of the things that I love about Mother’s Day and how, if left entirely up to me, I’d like to spend the day, it’d definitely have a good dose of lovely mixed in. Matt is sweet about always making it a special day. But setting a pretty brunch table for my mandatory sticky bun breakfast is definitely not on the “man radar.” So I’d do this for me because it makes me happy.

A FAVORITE TABLECLOTH

I’ve been wanting to use this pretty table cloth for awhile now. It was an Etsy find and so beautiful. I also pulled out these blue and white striped vases that we actually use for drinking glasses to complement the two larger arrangements I made in Farmhouse Pottery vases. These were all flowers from the grocery store and so lovely. We have a really great selection at our local store.

PLACE SETTINGS

My favorite charger is this woven one from Ballard Designs. I swear it looks good with every single type of table setting. Here I have it paired with these lovely white plates I used for Autumn’s 40th garden party and these bowls I adore. If you’re looking for a party staple, these high quality cream linen hemstitch dinner napkins are a must to have in the party arsenal and a steal on Amazon. This lovely silverware is a favorite of mine. It’s classy and updated and looks great on tables.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this pretty table for mom! Ruth Eileen Photography captured it beautifully. A pretty tablecloth and some lovely flowers go a long ways to loving on mom this Mother’s Day. I wish I was sitting her with my own mom sharing a sticky bun.
