A Coastal Christmas–Home Tour

Happy Holidays! I’m joining forces with some of my favorite bloggers to bring you the first official glimpse of our Christmas home with this Coastal Christmas Home Tour. I’ve been cheating by showing you all pictures on Instagram but I’m just so excited, this is the first holiday season in our new kitchen following the renovation of our old farmhouse outside of Boston. And it’s an absolute joy to live in. I had a moment the other day where I was in the kitchen making bread, watching the boys giggle in front of the fireplace and feeling little baby kick and I was filled with so much heart-fluttering gratitude that it made me smile ear to ear. I’m just so thankful. I hope you leave inspired to decorate for the holidays no matter where you are!

I am a true neutral girl at heart. I love grays, blues, natural woods, greenery and lots of white. So I stayed true to myself and added a few salmon blush and dusty blue colors which you’ll see more of in a few days. This is probably my favorite Christmas in this house yet.

Life already feels hectic with two littles undertow. Add pregnancy to that crazy mix and I was just wanting to capture the sparkle of the season without all the stuff. I added some flowers, striped linen ribbon and different faux greens to the faux cedar wreath in our sink nook and found these a-mazing mini faux juniper wreaths for the backs of the counter stools. For those asking, just a single safety pin has held them securely in place, even with littles running by.

Sometimes it really is the little things that tie it all together. I love this towel from McGee & Co.

Target is absolutely killing it this year with their holiday decor. I bought 3 of these beautiful pots on clearance and popped a little faux tree in. Amazing how that adds just enough lovely but in the most subtle of ways. When cheap and lovely collide, it almost makes me want to do the macarena.

When we sat down initially with Cutting Edge Homes in preparation for the remodel, they asked for a wish list of items I was hoping for in a renovation. Well that in and of itself felt like a Christmas list. A biggy on the list, besides a pretty, modern and open kitchen was a mudroom. Let’s face it, New England is a hard place to live. It’s wet and snowy and muddy and downright not-so-nice a good chunk of the year. So having a “decompression zone” where little people can leave their muck before coming into the house was up there on my “Christmas List.”  Our mudroom is perfection. I hand drew how I wanted the built-ins to look and Needham Woodworking delivered they even custom matched the paint color to our kitchen range. It’s essentially a glorified hallway leading back to the powder room, out to the garage, the side door and the kitchen but all it needed for a Christmas update was some greenery and some wreaths.

Just a bunch of faux greens for the powder room adds a bit of wintery lovely that I won’t kill or have to replace.

Thank you for stopping by! These beautiful pictures were captured by the insanely talented Madison Rae Photography. She’s a sweetheart, oh-so-gifted behind the lens, and kind even when I can’t keep pants on my crazy toddler.

My goodness don’t forget for a single moment to go to all my dear friends’ houses and see their Christmas Lovely. Remember it’s not about the quantity of stuff you have, oh but so much more about the heart and there’s heart in the hand-me-down cherished ornaments, handmade popcorn garlands and bunches of greens gathered from your yard.
